9th Armed Forces Veteran’s Day Celebrations at Air Force Station Jalahalli

Bengaluru. Armed Forces Veterans’ Day is celebrated every year on 14th of January to commemorate the service rendered by the First Commander-in-Chief of The Armed Forces, Late Field Marshal KM Cariappa who had retired on this day in 1953.

The Ninth Armed Forces Veterans’ Day was celebrated on January 14, 2025 at Air Force Station Jalahalli to pay tribute to the veterans for their unwavering duty and sacrifice to the nation. Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, Air Officer Commanding-in- Chief (AOC-in-C), Training Command (TC), IAF graced the event as Chief Guest.

The significance of the event lies in paying tribute to the unwavering courage, dedication and selfless service of these veterans towards the nation as well as strengthening their bond with the currently serving personnel.

On the occasion, the Chief Guest along with the Senior Officers of TC and senior veterans from all three services, laid wreath at the war memorial at HQ Training Command, Bangalore paying homage to the heroes for their supreme sacrifice and dedicated service.

Addressing a congregation of over 2000 veterans at Jalahalli, the Chief Guest expressed profound gratitude for their selfless service to the nation. He highlighted the role played by the families of veterans in being pillars of strength and supporting the veterans in their continued contribution towards nation building. The AOC-in-C also felicitated the octogenarian and nonagenarian veterans present on the occasion.

Various counters of Controller of Defence Account (CDA), Directorate of veterans from the three service HQs, Ex-Serviceman Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) and banks like PNB, Bank Of Baroda, Canara Bank, SBI, HDFC and ICICI, were functional at the venue for on-the-spot clarification and resolution of issues faced by veterans. Consultations along with other medical services were also made available on Life Style Diseases, Derma, ENT, Eye, Ortho, surgery and Medicine. Apart from these, a convenience stall too was set up by the Air force Families’ Welfare Association (AFFWA).
