Air-to-Air missile Astra successfully flight tested from Su-30 MKI
Air-to-Air missile Astra being successfully user flight-tested off the Odishacoast from Su-30 MKI aircraft on Tuesday, September 17, 2019
New Delhi. Air-to-Air missile, ASTRA, has been successfully flight tested off the coast of Odisha.
The missile was launched from Su-30 MKI as a part of User trials on September 16. A live aerial target was engaged accurately demonstrating the capability of this first indigenous air-to-air missile.
The mission profile was executed in a text book manner, it was officially announced.
Various Radars, Electro-Optical Tracking System (EOTS) and Sensors tracked the missile and confirmed its engagement with target.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, which has developed this Beyond the Visual Range (BVR) missile, and Air Force teams for the successful test.
