32nd CII Excellence Summit Concludes with Focus on Driving Competitiveness and Innovation for Sustainable Growth
Event Celebrates Industry Leaders, Quality Management, and Technological Advancements
Bengaluru, November. The 32nd Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Excellence Summit 2024, held on November 27th-28th, at the Taj Airport, Bengaluru, concluded successfully, bringing together over 500 delegates, more than 30 industry partners, and over 20 exhibitors. With the theme “Driving Competitiveness: Excellence for Sustainable Growth,” the event highlighted India’s focus on quality management, technological innovation, and industry sustainability.
The summit’s inaugural session on November 27th, featured prominent speakers from across industries. Mr. N. Manoharan, Director General of DGQA, in his inaugural address, emphasized the importance of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in strengthening India’s Defence production ecosystem. He highlighted key Ministry of Defence (MoD) schemes and visions aimed at ensuring a hassle-free supply of stores to the armed forces and fostering a self-reliant Defence production ecosystem, while stressing the role of Defence industries in achieving these goals.
Session Highlights:
Session I – Manufacturing and New Age Industry for 2047 – Policy, Tech, Strategy & Sustainable Growth Imperatives:
Mr. N. Manoharan, DG as invited speaker emphasized the need of emerging technologies in Defence manufacturing in the panel discussion This session brought together experts from the Defence, technology, and industry sectors to discuss cutting-edge innovations that are shaping the future of Defence capabilities. Key topics covered included AI in Defence applications, additive manufacturing, cybersecurity, and quality assurance in the context of modern military systems.
He emphasized the role of collaborative efforts in addressing the complex challenges of Defence manufacturing, aligning with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission and promoting a self-reliant and future-ready Defence sector. He also discussed how emerging technologies can enhance the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of Defence systems while improving the readiness of India’s Defence forces. He also addressed questions on how small and medium enterprises (SMEs) can contribute to Defence innovation by adopting advanced technologies and focusing on quality. The need for skilling the workforce to keep pace with these advancements was also emphasized.
Session II – Standards – Catalyzing Growth, Competitiveness, and Sustainability:
The second session, moderated by Mr. RA Govardhan, Additional Director General, DGQA, focused on the pivotal role that standards play in driving sustainability and global competitiveness. This session explored how different standards impact trade and future growth, and how the adoption of standards serves as a critical tool for industries and governments to foster innovation, ensure product quality, and enhance sustainability.
Further, during the summit, Mr. N. Manoharan, Director General of DGQA, emphasized the need for collaboration between the government, industry, and technology developers. He said, “To ensure India’s leadership in the global market, we must continue innovating while upholding the highest standards of quality.”
The summit also served as an important platform for networking and engagement, with various industry leaders coming together to discuss the future of India’s industries, particularly in the areas of Defence, healthcare, and manufacturing.
