NCC Cadets Embark on an Inspiring Coastal Sailing Expedition onboard INS Tarangini
New Delhi, December 11. In line with the theme Bhartiye Bandargah: Viksit Bharat ke Dwar (Indian Ports: Gateways to a Developed India), a special coastal sailing expedition is being undertaken by 30 enthusiastic cadets and one officer of the NCC (Kerala and Lakshadweep) Directorate onboard the iconic sailing ship, INS Tarangini.
The expedition, which highlights India’s maritime heritage and the role of youth in nation-building, commenced with the cast off from Kochi. The journey, rich with learning and adventure, will see the crew navigate the serene yet challenging waters of the Indian coastline. This leg of the expedition concludes in Chennai on December 17, 2024.
INS Tarangini, renowned as a symbol of India’s rich maritime traditions, provides the cadets a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience of life at sea. It also fosters teamwork, leadership, and resilience — hallmarks of NCC training.
This initiative aligns with the broader vision of a self-reliant India (Aatmanirbhar Bharat), emphasizing the importance of India’s ports and waterways in fostering economic growth and international trade. The cadets will also serve as ambassadors of the message, spreading awareness about India’s strides in maritime development.
The expedition is a testament to the Indian Navy’s and NCC’s commitment to nurturing youth with skills, discipline, and a deep sense of patriotism.
