Air Force Station Yelahanka Celebrates Diamond Jubilee of Service to the Nation

Bengaluru. Air Force Station Yelahanka has completed 60 years of glorious service to the nation. The year-long Diamond Jubilee celebrations that commenced on August 1, 2023, culminated with a grand finale on June 2.

The event comprised of an enthralling aerial display of transport and helicopter aircraft and included para-jumping by the renowned ‘Akashganga’ sky-diving team and an enthralling display by the Light Combat Helicopter-Prachand. A seminar on transport and helicopter operations was followed by the release of a ‘Special Cover’ to mark the momentous occasion.

Throughout the year, the station has been conducting various activities such as commissioning of a Full Motion Simulator (FMS), cycling and trekking expeditions, air-adventure camps and many other activities involving families under the aegis of Air Force Families Welfare Association.

Over the years, the Yelahanka airbase, which is synonymous with the conduct of the biennial ‘Aero India’, has carved a niche for itself and is proudly recognised as the ‘Alma Mater of Airlift since it trains the young transport and helicopter aircrew’. Air Marshal SK Indoria, Senior Air Staff Officer, Training Command, IAF while addressing the gathering, paid rich tribute to the veterans and acknowledged their outstanding contribution towards the station reaching this milestone. He lauded the Station for its excellence in mission accomplishment and the immense contribution made to nation building by virtue of hosting the Aero India.
