Air Force Technical College Celebrates Platinum Jubilee
Bengaluru, July 4. On completion of 75 years of glorious service to the nation, Air Force Technical College (AFTC) celebrated its Platinum Jubilee on July 4. The ceremony was attended by serving personnel and veterans who had served in this prestigious training establishment of the IAF, throughout its illustrious history. On this momentous occasion, Air Commodore Ashutosh Shrivastava, Commandant, greeted the dignitaries, veterans and their families.
To mark this significant event, a Special Cover was released by Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, Air Officer – in – Chief (AOC-in-C), Training Command, IAF. As part of the celebration, a series of events were conducted wherein ‘Platinum Jubilee Run’ and ‘75 Kms- Platinum Jubilee Cycle Expedition’ were the prominent ones.
The AOC-in-C, in his address, complemented the unit personnel and highlighted the immense contribution of the serving and retired alumni of this distinguished institution towards ensuring the availability of platforms and equipment to bolster the air power of the nation.
Established on July 4, 1949, the Air Force Technical College (AFTC) is a premier training establishment of IAF that imparts technical training to Officers of engineering branch in the IAF. In addition, the College also imparts training to Officers of other services and Officers from friendly foreign countries. The first Direct Entry Officers (DEO) Course passed out from the college on January 22, 1951 with its Reviewing Officer being Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. On November 12, 2008, the College was awarded the President’s Colours by Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, the then President of India.
Equipped with state of the art technology and propelled by its indomitable passion to succeed, the AFTC continues to project new horizons of knowledge besides enhancing the operational capabilities of the IAF.
