Air Marshal PP Khandekar takes over as Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance
New Delhi. Air Marshal PP Khandekar assumed the responsibilities of Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance (AOM) at Air HQ in New Delhi May 3.
The Air Marshal is a graduate of VNIT, Nagpur and was commissioned in Indian Air Force (IAF) in Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) stream on July 25, 1977. He is a Post Graduate in Industrial Engineering from NITIE, Mumbai, an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and Master in Science in Defence & Strategic Studies from Madras University.
Air Marshal Khandekar has rich experience on aircraft such as Su-7, MiG-23 and MiG-27. He has commanded Air Force Station High Grounds and Air Force Station Kanpur. He has held various prestigious appointments at HQ MC, HQ IDS & Air HQ and has the unique distinction of being the first Commandant and Director of MILIT (Military Institute of Training), a tri-service technology training institute. Prior to taking over as AOM, he has held the appointment of Senior Maintenance Staff Officer of an Operational Command and ACAS (Maintenance Plans) at Air HQ.
Air Marshal PP Khandekar has presented papers at National Seminars and AeSI Chapters on topics such as Blue Print of Strategy for Ageing Aircraft, C412 perspective, Life Extension Programme and India’s Foreign Policy-A Case of Continuity and Change Management & Absorption of Futuristic Technologies, Public-Private Convergence, Higher Education Format to Feed Aerospace Industry etc. At present he is pursuing his PhD degree from DIAT (Defence Institute of Advanced Technology), a deemed university in Pune.
