Air Marshal Tejbir Singh Takes Over as Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Training Command, IAF
New Delhi. Air Marshal Tejbir Singh assumed the appointment of Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO), Training Command, IAF on September 1, 2024. The Air Marshal was commissioned in Dec 1988 in the flying branch of Indian Air Force (IAF) and has flown more than 7000 hours in all combat airlift roles.
The Air Officer is a Qualified Flying Instructor and also an alumnus of the Royal College of Defence Studies, UK. He has held various important command and staff appointments including our Air Attaché to Bangladesh during his illustrious career spanning over 36 years. He has also tenanted the prestigious assignment of Senior Directing Staff (Air) at National Defence College, New Delhi.
Air Marshal Tejbir Singh has been a pioneer in induction of the C-130J ‘Super Hercules’ aircraft in the IAF and establishing our first ‘Special Ops’ Squadron aimed towards joint operations. He is credited with various trials and concepts on the ‘Super Hercules’ including the distinction of holding the record for landing at the highest air strip in the world at Daulat Beg Oldie, Ladakh at 16614 ft. He has been associated with training in IAF as a flying instructor and as Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Yelahanka, a premier flying training establishment. The Air Officer has also commanded an important frontline airbase supporting our Northern sector. In his last assignment at Air HQ, he was responsible for all air mobility operations including supporting nation building tasks and international deployments.
In recognition of his distinguished service, the Air Marshal has been awarded Vayu Sena Medal in 2010 and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2018 by the Hon’ble President of India.
