Air Vice Marshal R Guruhari Assumed Charge as Commandant, SDI January 1

Bengaluru. AVM Raman Guruhari is the new Chief of the Prestigious Software Development Institute (SDI), IAF.

Air Vice Marshal R Guruhari assumed charge as Commandant of the Software Development Institute (SDI), Air Force Bengaluru on January 1, 2025.

The Officer has held key Command & Staff appointments during his career of three decades prior to assuming charge as Commandant SDI. These include Chief Engineering Officer of two premier forward fighter air bases of IAF, Director Ops(IW) and Director PO-1(L). As head of the Air Force Project Management Team at LRDE, DRDO Bengaluru, he played a significant role in driving critical Radar projects for IAF. The Air Officer held the appointment of Air Officer Commanding, Central Servicing Development Organization (CSDO), which plays a pivotal role in formulating maintenance philosophy for IAF.

He has undergone the prestigious Staff Course at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and the Higher Defense Management Course at CDM Secunderabad.

Before taking over the command on January 1, 2025, the Officer served as the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Weapons) at Air HQ.

The Air Vice Marshal is a BE(Comp Sci) graduate and has prior experience at SDI. An avid sportsman having ardent passion for adventure activities, he is married to Mrs. Ganga Joshi, who is a professional artist, educator and career guidance counsellor. Their son G Satyamitran is a post graduate in the field of Public Policy and is employed as a policy adviser.
