BonV Aero enters US defence market, strengthening India-US defence cooperation
Bhubaneswar, March 23. Indian aerospace startup BonV Aero has officially entered the US market through the I2A Launchpad, a defence acceleration platform managed by FedTech and Indus Bridge Ventures. This move marks a significant milestone for the company as it integrates with the US defence and commercial sectors, aiming to expand its presence beyond India.
By joining the I2A Launchpad, BonV Aero aligns itself with key US–India initiatives such as the Autonomous Systems Industry Alliance (ASIA) and the COMPACT initiative, both of which focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in defence and critical infrastructure. The expansion is part of India’s broader push to support defence startups, with government-backed initiatives like Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) and Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020 fostering global partnerships and technological advancements.
Satyabrata Satpathy, CEO of BonV Aero, emphasized the broader implications of this expansion.
“Entering the US market is more than just business growth,” he said. “It is a step towards deeper collaboration in defence, disaster response, and homeland security. We seek partnerships that drive co-development and interoperability.”
The move also reflects the growing strategic partnership between India and the US under frameworks such as the Quad and the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET). The deepening collaboration in defence and innovation was underscored by Baibhav Patel, Manager, Government Affairs and Public Policy, at BonV Aero.
“This is a direct outcome of policy vision being translated into commercial and strategic reality,” Patel said. “INDUS-X and the recently announced INDUSWERX are shaping a powerful innovation corridor between India and the US, and BonV is one of the earliest Indian companies to walk that path.”
As part of its US expansion strategy, BonV Aero is actively engaging with the American defence ecosystem, including testbeds and potential sponsors, to accelerate certification and operational readiness. The company also plans to showcase its heavy-lift aerial mobility technology at XPONENTIAL 2025 in Houston, a leading global event for autonomous and unmanned systems.
By securing certifications under US defence and homeland security standards, BonV Aero aims to establish itself as a key player in the global unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) market. The company’s entry into the US highlights the tangible outcomes of strengthened India-US cooperation in defence and technology, reinforcing their shared vision for innovation and security partnerships.
