CURTAIN RAISER: 63rd Edition of Subroto Cup Commences at Bengaluru

Bengaluru, August 20. The 63rd edition of the prestigious Subroto Cup International Football Tournament is being held from 19 August – 28 August, 2024 at AFS Jalahalli, Bengaluru. The Subroto Cup, hosted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) under the aegis of the Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society (SMSES) is named after Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee, who conceived the idea in order to promote the sports at the grass root level. The first edition of the tournament was held in 1960.

The tournament will be telecast live on the Sports Cast India and Khel now YouTube channel. The highlights of the event can also be accessed on the Prasar Bharti and AIFF YouTube channels.

Extending the outreach of the iconic tournament to other parts of the country, the IAF organized the 62nd edition of the sports event at Bengaluru for the first time from 1 October, 2023 to 10 October, 2023. Owing to the grand success and popularity, Bengaluru has been chosen by the IAF to host the 63rd edition of the mega event in Sub Junior Boys category. The matches will be played at HQ Training Command, ASC Centre (South), Air Force Station Yelahanka and Air Force Station Jalahalli.

A total of 38 teams from various states, UTs of the country including three foreign teams are participating in the tournament. Teams from Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka will bring in the foreign participation. A total of 71 football matches are scheduled to be played from 19 August – 28 August, 2024 while the final match will be played on 28 August, 2024 at ASC Centre (South), Bengaluru.
