IN-SPACe Recognized as Dual Category Awarding Body by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship
New Delhi, November 28. The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) has been officially recognized as Awarding Body and Assessing Body (Dual Category) by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India. This recognition empowers IN-SPACe to award NCVET certificates to trainees completing NCVET-approved qualifications developed by IN-SPACe. This marks a significant milestone in advancing skill development in the space sector.
The recognition allows IN-SPACe to deliver specialized training programs across critical areas of space technology, including but not limited to:
- Essentials of Satellite Manufacturing
- Space Technology in Agriculture
- Mission Design and Avionics Development for Launch Vehicles
- Orbital Mechanics, Attitude Dynamics, and Navigation
- Advances in Propulsion Systems for Space Missions
- Space Data Products and Services
Dr. Vinod Kumar, Director, Promotion Directorate, IN-SPACe, represented the organization during the agreement’s execution. Speaking on this achievement he said, “This recognition is a critical step in building a skilled talent base for India’s growing space sector. By aligning our training initiatives with the demands of the space industry, we will empower learners with the knowledge and hands-on expertise needed to support the nation’s ambitions in today’s competitive global space scenario”.
About NCVET:
The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) was established as a regulatory body on December 5, 2018 by the Government of India. The NCVET serves as an overarching national regulator with the aim of setting standards, developing comprehensive regulations, and improving the vocational education, training, and skilling ecosystem.
The primary objective of NCVET is to ensure strong industry interfacing and implement effective regulations that enhance the quality and outcomes of vocational education and training. It is responsible for the development, qualitative improvement, and regulation of vocational education and training systems. Additionally, NCVET grants recognition to and monitors the functioning of awarding bodies, assessment agencies, and skill information providers. It also performs other incidental functions as specified in its resolution.
About IN-SPACe:
IN-SPACe was constituted in June 2020 following the Central Government’s decision to open up the space sector and enable the participation of Indian private sector in the gamut of space activities. The Indian National Space Promotion and authorization Centre (IN-SPACe), acts as a single-window, independent, nodal agency which functions as an autonomous agency in Department of Space (DOS).
IN-SPACe is responsible for the promotion, enabling, authorization, and supervision of various space activities of the Non-Governmental Entities (NGEs) that include, among others, the building of launch vehicles & satellites and providing space-based services; sharing of space infrastructure and premises under ISRO; and establishment of new space infrastructure and facilities. The functions of IN-SPACe are being carried out by three Directorates viz., Promotion Directorate (PD), Technical Directorate (TD) and Program Management & Authorization Directorate (PMAD) and Administration, Finance & Legal Wing.
