Indian Coast Guard Medical Camp in Collaboration with AIIMS, Delhi at Kavaratti and Androth Islands
Bengaluru, April 30. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) District Headquarters at Kavaratti, with support of the UT administration and in collaboration with AIIMS New Delhi, conducted a two-day medical camp in the remote islands of Kavaratti and Androth on April 29 and 30 respectively.
The outreach program focused on providing super-specialist medical coverage in the far flung islands and benefit the local populace through consultation with domain experts. Dr M Srinivas, Director, AIIMS, Delhi is heading the medical team comprising of 15 specialist doctors from fields of Gynecology, Pediatrics, Neurology, Dermatology, Orthopedic etc.
The event was inaugurated by Dr M Srinivas in the presence of Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, PTM, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (west), Surgeon Commodore Diviya Gautam, VSM, Prinicpal Director (Medical Services), CGHQ and Mr. Avanish Kumar, IAS, Health Secretary, UT administration. The camp engaged approximately 1500 citizens at each island and provided free of cost medicines along with expert consultation. The medical team also delivered basic life support (BLS) lectures to local medical professionals to enhance the standards of available medical infrastructure. The event was successfully completed with support of UT administration.
