"SpiceJet has grown aggressively in the last 26 months, adding 29 aircraft," said airline's chief executive Neil Mills.
According to the company, it added 29 aircraft from October 2010 to December 2012 which included 14 Boeing jets and 15 Bombardier Q400s.
SpiceJet had entered into agreement with Bombardier for the supply of the aircraft and has options to get 15 more Q-400s. The deal
was financed by the EDC (Export Credit of Canada) facility agreed in June 2011.
The company placed the order for the Q-400s with a vision to enhance air connectivity to Tier-II-III cities and some other short haul destinations.
The Q400 NextGen turboprop aircraft can accommodate 78 passengers.
