This is the 22nd consecutive year of exchange
of lists of nuclear facilities and was held simultaneously
here and at Islamabad, a statement from the Ministry
of External Affairs here said. The first one was
signed Jan 1, 1992.
The lists are covered under the Agreement on
the Prohibition of Attack Against Nuclear Installations
and Facilities between the two countries. It was
signed Dec 31, 1988 and entered into force on
Jan 27, 1991. It provides, inter alia, that the
two countries inform each other of nuclear installations
and facilities to be covered under the agreement
on the first of January of every calendar year.
The two countries also exchanged a list of nationals
of each country lodged in others' jails, consistent
with the provisions of the Agreement on Consular
Access between India and Pakistan, the statement
said.
The agreement on prisoners was signed May 21,
2008 providing that a comprehensive list of nationals
of each country lodged in others' jails has to
be exchanged twice each year, on Jan 1 and July
1.
