Sagar Defence Engineering has signed a MoU with Israel Aerospace Industries to develop Autonomous Weaponised Boat Swarms for Indian Navy
Bengaluru. On February 15, Sagar Defence Engineering Pvt. Ltd. and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop autonomous weaponized boat swarms for the Indian Navy. This MoU was signed at the Aero India Show held at Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bangalore during the Bandhan ceremony in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and CM of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai along with various other dignitaries. The MoU was signed to collaborate and develop Indian design developed and manufactured (IDDM) for India and the global market at large by October 2023. The partnership is expected to achieve a business that would amount to over 400cr for the company.
In January 2023, Sagar Defence Engineering had achieved the contract of Indian Navy for their 50th SPRINT contract for autonomous weaponized boat swarms for the Indian Navy in an aim to strengthen maritime security in India and acquire “Aatmanirbharta” status in the defence industry. This was one of the 75 challenges the Indian Navy had presented in 2022 as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
