Bengaluru, November 13. The Madras Sappers, one of the oldest Engineer Group of the Indian Army, who recently played a crucial role in rescue & restoration operation post Wayanad landslide, is organizing an e-bike rally with an aim to connect with its veterans in commemoration of its 244th Raising Day and 25th anniversary of the Kargil victory. The rally, which is slated to be flagged from four cities – Kanyakumari, Thiruvananthapuram, Belagavi & Hyderabad on
16 November will traverse through the five south Indian states and converge at Bengaluru on 22 November where it would be flagged in by the Engineer-in-Chief Lt Gen Arvind Walia, AVSM.
As informed by the military authorities, while re-kindling old bond with veterans, a team of Records MEG accompanying the rally will be conduct a veterans’ outreach programme at eight different pit stops enroute. Viz Belagavi on 16 Nov 2024 between 1000 to 1200 hrs, at Hubbali on 16 Nov 2024 between 1600 to 1800 hrs, at Mangalore on 18 Nov 2024 between 1000 to 1200 hrs, at Madikere on 19 Nov 2024 between 0900 to 1130 hrs and at Hassan on 20 Nov 2024 between 1000 to 1200 hrs. Veterans and dependents of other regiments can reap advantage of the initiative wherein they will be assisted to find `on the spot solution’ for most of their queries and grievances related to documentation and pension through SPARSH with a mere participation. Many prominent personalities, civil dignitaries and senior retired officers of the Defence Forces are likely to attend the functions to connect with the veterans as a tribute to their contribution to the nation.
Riding on e-bikes provided by market leader Ultra Violette Automotive, the rally also intends to spread the message of environmental conservation by use of sustainable energy salutation, among the masses.
