SRINAGAR: At least seven personnel died while 19 others were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into Shyok River in Tuktuk sector on Friday.
A party of 26 soldiers was heading from the transit camp in Partapur to a forward location in sub-sector when the accident took place around 9am, about 25km from injuring all occupants.
“The vehicle fell into a depth of around 50-60ft,” said an official, adding that seven personnel have been declared dead so far while the injured have been evacuated to 403 at Partapur.
